Pakapi is a concept of a axolotl medic. Since only 5% of the ocean has been explored I thought, “wouldn’t it be cool if there was an amphibious species that lived in the depths of earth’s ocean?” I came up with Pakapi, a earthling whose family was discovered off the coast of Pearl Harbor, Hawaii in the 1970s. The existence of her species remained a secret and was on strict surveillance by the U.S. Government. Until one day when humanity decided to space colonize Gliese 12 b and leave earth, a dying planet, behind. In the year 2070 the U.S. Government could no longer keep it a secret, humans and Pakapi’s kind, the Visilik were all aboard the same interstellar spacecraft. Humans and the Visilik had to get along as they made the 30 year voyage to Gliese 12 b. They were welcomed by the humans since they look practically the same. The only visual difference being axolotl gills that sprout from their heads, their stubby feet and their incredibly sweet demeanor. The Visilik do not age and are like the elves of the sea. They have regenerative healing properties just like axolotls do. For this reason the U.S. Government developed a state of the art device that would utilize their special properties to extend their regenerative abilites to others. A backpack with a alien from an unknown destination named Myk was presented to Pakapi when she was first stationed with The United States Space Force (USSF). Pakapai after going through rigorous training and scientific testing found Myk to be such a pleasant surprise. She had no clue what he was or the journey she would have with this little fella. As she tried the backpack on for the first time her brain waves were linked to Myk’s. As Pakapi was handed bespoke defibrillators in both hands she noticed Myk’s arms come out of the backpack and connect to the them. She felt an intense surge of power coming from the defibrillator handles. Over the intercom system Pakapi was asked to preform a few trials, she was directed to aim at one of the moving targets in the sterile white training room. She was told to feel angry and let that anger unleash on the moving target. Pakapi did so and in her eyes sparks could be seen. The target was nothing but a pile of ash. She was asked to aim her defibrillators at a random man named Steve over in the corner. Steve was frightened and jittery after seeing what the defibrillators did to that moving target. She was asked to focus on healing Steve’s arm that was in a sling and to think of happy thoughts of sunshine and rainbows. She did just that and this time Steve’s skin was glowing red and he looked translucent, like a glow stick, as the steady laser beams pulsed from the ends of the difibrillators. Steve took his arm out of the sling and was overjoyed to see his arm healed. Pakapi’s was overjoyed for him and they jumped up and down together in cheer, including Myk. This was the start of her journey as humanity and the visilik prepared for landing.
